On February 23, 2023, the Ministry of Information and Communications issued Decision No. 219/QD-BTTTT approving the plan to organize an auction of the right to use the 2300-2400MHz frequency band for 4G IMT-Advanced and 5G NR mobile communications. Accordingly, enterprises participating in the auction of the right to use radio frequencies for the 2300-2400 MHz band can deploy telecommunications networks and services using IMT-Advanced (4G) or IMT-2020 technology. 5G) n40 on this band.
Band Blocks Auctioned
Pursuant to Decision No. 219/QD-BTTTT, the auction band is the 2300-2400 MHz band planned for Vietnam's IMT terrestrial mobile communication system according to Circular No. 29/2021/TT-BTTTT dated December 31, 2021, including blocks: A1 : 2300 - 2330 MHz; A2: 2330 - 2360 MHz; A3: 2360 - 2390 MHz.
Each band block will be auctioned in turn, each business can only win at most 1 band block.
Term of use of auction band
Enterprises winning the auction of the 2300-2400 MHz band has the right to use this band for 15 years and are used to deploy the terrestrial mobile communication system according to IMT-Advanced standards and subsequent versions prescribed in Circular No. 29/2021/TT-BTTTT dated December 31, 2021.
Starting price and step price
Starting price of all 3 blocks of A1 band: 2,300 - 2,330MHz; A2: 2.330 - 2,360MHz; A3: 2,360 - 2,390MHz are all over 5,798 billion VND/band block. The price step with all 3 blocks is 10 billion VND/block.
Time limit for deployment of 5G service NR
Pursuant to the Decision, enterprises must provide 5G NR services within 12 months from the date of being licensed to provide terrestrial mobile telecommunications services on the 2300-2400 MHz band.
Thus, we can expect 5G mobile network service to be officially available to users with wide coverage in the second half of 2024.
