At this moment, MIC has no specific regulation on LPWAN (Low Power Wide-Area Network) including LoRa (Long Range) and LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide-Area Network) products. Therefore, the LPWAN products has to use frequency bands 918MHz ~ 923MHz allocated for generic SRD with very limited allowed transmit power at 25mW ERP. This low transmit power has caused dificulties in application and usability for LPWAN, LoRa and LoRaWAN products in Vietnam. In order to meet the demand of IoT development, MIC has drafted National Techinical Regulation on LPWAN products with details is below:
1. The new regulation is completely equivalient to EN 300 220-1 v3.1.1 (test method) and ETSI EN 300 220-2 v3.2.1 (limits)
2. Allocated frequency bands, transmit power, and operational conditions
Frequency band | Type of Equipment | Main emmision | Other conditions |
920MHz ~ 922.5 MHz | Low Power Wide-Area Network LPWAN | 306.2 mW ERP (500mW EIRP) | The equipment must use below technique to reduce spurious emission: - Duty cycle must not exceed 10% (for Access station / Gateway) and not exceed 1% (for Sensor / End point) |
Accordingly, MIC will issue circular to replace or supplemented Circular 05/2019/TT-BTTTT and Circular 46/2016/TT-BTTTT for later implementation.
