TCVN 13372:2021 Energy Efficiency standard for induction hobs has been released and supposed to be enforced from 01 Jan 2025. Fortunately, organizations can apply for voluntary testing and energy efficiency label declaration of conformity before mandated date.
An induction cooker (induction hop) is a cooker which transfers electrical energy by induction from a coil of wire into a metal vessel (pan or pot). The coil is mounted under the cooking surface, and a high frequency (e.g. 24 kHz) alternating current is passed through it. The current in the coil creates a dynamic magnetic field. When a suitable electrically conductive pot is brought close to the cooking surface, the magnetic field induces large eddy currents in the pot or pan. The coil has many turns, while the bottom of the pot effectively forms a single shorted turn. This forms a transformer that steps down the voltage and steps up the current. This large current flowing through the base of the pot produces heat through Joule heating; the hot pot then in turn heats its contents by heat conduction.
According to the TCVN 13372:2021, all kind of infrared hobs, including the product with other cooking area like infrared cooking area shall still be fallen under its scope.
